چکیده

In this paper, we present an intensive investigation of the finite volume method (FVM) compared to difference methods (FDMs). order show main in way approaching solution, take Burgers equation and Buckley–Leverett as examples simulate previously mentioned methods. On one hand, results using schemes Lax–Friedrichs Lax–Wendroff. other apply Godunov’s scheme method. Moreover, how starting with a variational formulation problem, element technique provides piecewise formulations functions defined by collection grid data points, while begins differential problem continues discretize derivatives. Finally, some graphical numerical comparisons are provided illustrate corroborate differences between these two

A sixth-order compact finite difference scheme to the numerical solutions of Burgers' equation

Keywords: Compact schemes Finite difference method Burgers' equation Low-storage Runge–Kutta scheme a b s t r a c t A numerical solution of the one-dimensional Burgers' equation is obtained using a sixth-order compact finite difference method. To achieve this, a tridiagonal sixth-order compact finite difference scheme in space and a low-storage third-order total variation diminishing Runge–Kutt...

A unified approach to Mimetic Finite Difference, Hybrid Finite Volume and Mixed Finite Volume methods

We investigate the connections between several recent methods for the discretization of anisotropic heterogeneous diffusion operators on general grids. We prove that the Mimetic Finite Difference scheme, the Hybrid Finite Volume scheme and the Mixed Finite Volume scheme are in fact identical up to some slight generalizations. As a consequence, some of the mathematical results obtained for each ...

Fourth-order finite difference method for solving Burgers' equation

In this paper, we present fourth-order finite difference method for solving nonlinear one-dimensional Burgers equation. This method is unconditionally stable. The convergence analysis of the present method is studied and an upper bound for the error is derived. Numerical comparisons are made with most of the existing numerical methods for solving this equation. 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights res...

Numerical approximation of modified burgers' equation via hybrid finite difference scheme on layer-adaptive mesh

ABSTRACT. In this paper, a numerical method is constructed for solving one-dimensional time dependent modified Burgers’ equation for various values of Reynolds number. At high Reynolds number, an inviscid boundary layer is produced in the neighborhood of right part of the lateral surface of the domain and the problem can be considered as a non-linear singularly perturbed problem involving a sma...
